Uma Semana Milagrosa!

Hello, everybody! I hope that you are well and are enjoying the slightly warmer weather. This week was an eventful one. Another set of missionaries invited a rapaz named Giovanni to go to church the next Sunday, and amazingly, he actually went. Two weeks ago yesterday, we started to teach him, and he was very open with us. We taught the Book of Mormon and he accepted the invitation to be baptized. However, he would travel to São Paulo for a few week on the 19th of March. We didn´t know if he would be ready to be baptized in only 2 weeks, but we learned that there really are people who are already ready. He only needed to hear the truth, and on Saturday he was baptized. It was amazing to be a part of it,  de verdade. You´d think that he would need more time to really gain a testimony, but because he was sincere and really just wanted to follow the Savior, he gained his own testimony. Sadly, I still can´t send pictures but it was a really nice service.

In other news, Sister Sanders had her birthday last Monday, and we celebrated with pastels and calda de cana and cake and cookies, and it was awesome. We also had a Family Home Evening with a family that we´re teaching, and we talked about the importance of the Book of Mormon. It was really good. But yeah. That´s about all for this week. But I´m glad to be here. This area is amazing and the people are even better.

Love you all lots,
Sister Herron

Luiz se Batizou!

Hello everybody!!!

This week was an interesting one. We spent less time working this week than any other week in my mission I think. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday we had to be home 6 pm every night because of Carnival. I don´t have any interesting stories about Carnival. The only thing different that we saw were more drunk people sleeping on the street Wednesday morning. Other than that it was tranquilo. On Tuesday, Sister Sanders was feeling dizzy and then threw up so, I only worked for like 2 hours with Sister Ellsworth in splits. On Thursday, we had to go to the mission office in Santos, and because of a rainstorm, it was about 5 hours instead of 2 and a half.

But with all the craziness of the week, we were still blessed. And Luiz got baptized!!!! Woohoo! He was so happy after his baptism. It´s a blessing de verdade to see people change and make sacred covenants with the Lord. Also, it´s always good to remember that there are people just waiting to receive the gospel like Luiz, so we are more motivated to continue working this week. Infelizmente, I still can´t send pictures, but when I can again, there will be a lot. But I love you all, and I hope you´re doing well. Don´t forget the things most important in life!

Tchau tchau!

Carnival!!

Oi everybody! This week was incredible!! We taught a lot, and talked with everyone. Sister Sanders and I are working real hard, and we were blessed for our efforts. Yesterday, three people went to church, and another rapaz named Giovanne went too. After church, the other set of sisters in our ward talked to him and he said that he wanted to be baptized. So now, we are teaching him, and he has a date to be baptized for March 16! It´s amazing how little simple things like a contact on the street or a pass along card can make a big difference.

Sister Sanders and I found out this week that we´re related! So that´s cool. Now, when everybody asks if we´re sisters, we can respond that we´re cousins hahaha. It´s kinda funny how people think that all of us blond Americans are the same person or related.

This week is going to be a little more difficult and slower in the missionary work because of Carnival. Thankfully, we can still work, but we have to be back home 6pm for a few days. With today being p-day that means that we won’t work at all. Up until now, it hasn´t been too crazy on the streets, but it´s better to be safe than sorry. Maybe that´s because it´s been kinda rainy. We´ve heard a lot of crazy stories about Carnival, so maybe next week I´ll have a weird story, but I hope not.

But in exciting news about the work, we´re going to have a baptism this week!! I don´t remember if I already wrote about him, but he is awesome! He´s just 19 years old, but he´s very sincere and excited to learn. He´s the kind of person that says he´ll do something, and then he´ll actually do it!

I love you all and hope that you have a fantastic week!
