Our Street Turned into a River!

Hello, everybody. This week was a good one. We spent a lot of time walking in the hot sun. But last night we were blessed with a giant storm and the streets flooded. I don´t know if you can see in the picture, but the whole road is covered. At one end of the street, the water was up to people´s knees. Luckily, it was only raining when we were returning home. We were completely soaked. Other than that, it was a normal week really.

We´re teaching a girl named Brenda, and she´ll be baptized soon! She is really sweet. When we teach something, she is always ready to commit. It´s amazing to see how people will make drastic changes to their lives to follow the Savior. Before I left on the mission, I thought that I would inspire others, but really they inspire me. We´re also teaching a girl named Diná. She´s really sweet too. She works as a model, so she is constantly surrounded by people negative, but she wants to be better. She is very honest with us, with herself, and with Heavenly Father. We´re also teaching a couple, Franci and Vitor. They´re really cute. They´re going to church every week now, and they´re almost ready to be baptized. They just need to get married first. But Franci is pregnant!!! Yay! So they have a desire to get married, it´s just a small matter of time and money. But Franci should find out this week if the baby is a boy or girl! It´s so interesting that I will so spend a few months in each area, but we will also grow so close to the people that we teach.

Sorry that my emails are so short and lacking details, but I'm trying. I love you all. If you have questions or something specific you want to know, feel free to ask.

Love,
Sister Herron

Oooiiii!

Choose the path to the Celestial Kingdom!

Hello everybody! I hope that you are all doing well. Thank you to everyone that sent me a Christmas card. It helped my Christmas feel a little more Christmassy. Before I forget, the address of my mission office changed. If you want to send me a card or something, the address is...

Av. Rangel Pestana, 209
Vila Mathias - Santos, SP
CEP 11013-550

This week wasn´t too out of the ordinary. It was hot, we worked hard, we taught, we studied, we talked to people on the streets. It was good. This week was extra good because I had the opportunity to be served and feel the love that my companion, my leaders, and the members here in Enseada have for me. This was a tender mercy of my Heavenly Father, and I am grateful for all the people He put in my life to help and inspire me. I love you all too, and I am grateful for you love and support.
Tchau,
Sister Herron

Feliz Ano Novo!!

Christmas Morning Cookies and Hot Chocolate

I ate a fruit called pinha. It was good. Looks like jaka but is much better.

This week has been crazy. My area, Enseada, Guarujá, is a tourist spot. And for Christmas and New Year´s, all of São Paulo came to the beach. All the streets are lined with cars, and everyone´s using bikinis and speedos. It´s a lot harder to talk to strangers about the gospel when they aren´t wearing clothes. Tonight, we have to be in our house by 6, and it´s p-day until 6, so we won´t be able to work like normal. But it´ll be nice to have a little more time to study and organize our area book.

Christmas was surprisingly fun. We spent Christmas Eve with a new member, Juliana, and her family. Here in Brazil, Christmas Eve is a big party, and they open presents at midnight. We had to be in our house again at 9 o'clock like normal. Christmas day is more chill. I think most people spend it sleeping. And then go to the beach. We had the awesome opportunity to skype our families on Christmas! After that, we tried to work as normal e não ficar muito tranque.

Fun fact about Brazilian culture: all the teenage boys love to fly kites. The streets are full of them. It´s kinda funny and kinda cute. Also, it´s not super uncommon to see teenage boys hold their moms´ hand.

Tchau,
