Little Miracles

Hello everybody,

This week didn't have much new news, but it was good. I had splits this week with the sisters from Ocian, so that was interesting to go back for a day. Other than that it was a pretty normal week. But every week has its little miracles, so I think I´ll share one with you.

We were going to visit the house of a lady we´re teaching, and passed in front of a house with an older couple sitting out in front. We should have stopped to talk to them, but so continued. A lady that we were going to teach wasn´t home, so we started to go back the way we came. The lady that was sitting in front of her house waved to us and beckoned us closer. When we arrived she asked why we were coming back. We explained that we´re missionaries and that we are teaching her neighbor but she wasn´t home. The lady, Maria, then asked us if we say prayers and if we could say one with her. We prayed with her, and it was a special experience for me. She told us that it wasn´t a coincidence that we had to come back, and it was a testimony to me of how really this is the work of the Lord. His hand is in all that we do, when we are worthy of it.

I´m grateful for this opportunity I have to serve a mission here in Santos, Brasil, and I´m grateful for you guys and your love and support.

Com amor,
Sister Herron

Primeiro açaí, um batismo, e ficamos!

In front of my area.
With President and Sister Obata

I tried to make pão de queijo. I didn't know if it would turn out.

But it turned out alright.

Hello everybody,

This was a good week. I repented and took some pictures for you guys. This week was full of ups and downs, but that´s part of the mission and part of life. But yesterday, was transfers! Sister Torres and I both will stay in Cubatão for at least another 6 weeks, so that´s a relief. We still have a lot of work to do here, so it´s good.

On Saturday, Vinicius, um rapaz that the Elders were teaching, was baptized. We were able to go to the baptism and support him and play the piano. The Spirit was very strong, and it was a blessing for me to be there.

Last night, we also had a family home evening with a family here in the ward. And Marcos and Vinicius, and a man that we´re teaching, Oswaldo. Oswaldo was baptized in 1990, but for some reason, stopped coming. Now, he is receiving the lessons again and is returning to his faith. Teaching him is awesome, because I think I learn as much as he does in the lessons :)

That´s about it for this week. But thank you all for your prayers and support. I love you all, and I hope that you all have a great week.

Com Amor,

Sister Herron

Teaching in Cubatão

It´s been another great week here in Cubatão! This week we were finally able to really start teaching people and it was awesome. I´m always amazed at how willing Brazilians are to let strangers into their house to talk about God. It´s really a blessing. It´s a little bit harder for them to actually apply what they learn, but that´s not uncommon.

Sister Torres and I are still trying to get to know all the members here, but we are slowly getting there. We´re receiving some member referrals and that is super exciting! When the members help, the work goes a lot better. Usually, friends of member have real interest and they already have a support system, someone to help them go to church, and someone to answer their questions right from the beginning. So, it´s super exciting.

This week, I had splits with the SLT, so I got to go back to Ocian for just one day. That was fun. I don't remember if I told you guys about Adenilton, but he is a man that I was teaching in Ocian. He has already finished the Book of Mormon I think and really is so sincere. Two weeks ago, he was baptized! And I got to see pictures of his baptism and that made me super happy.

Really the best thing about serving a mission is seeing the effect of repentance in people´s lives. People really can change and that is the gift of Jesus Christ for all of us.

I didn´t take pictures this week...desculpa...but I know that I will for next time, because this city has some pretty cool views. It´s an industrial city, so there´s gigantic fires in the sky always. They say that if they go out, the whole city will explode.....I don´t know if I believe that, but who knows.

Love you all,

Sister Herron
