1 Year, and I´m still Alive!!!

Hello, everybody!

This week was a good one like always. Every week I learn a lot of new things--Portuguese, patience, how we can be more like Christ, how we can be better examples, etc. One thing I love about Brazil is that almost everyone is Christian, and they are very open to share their beliefs with us. And so I´m always learning from the people I´m teaching too. They believe in miracles and share them with always. And I´m amazed at how they are being blessed for their faith.

Yesterday, we received the transfers. And Sister Torres and I will stay here together in Cubatão for another 6 weeks!!!! Woohooo! Which is good, because we still have a lot to do here. After 3 months of searching, we´re starting to find some of the Lord´s elect.

This past week I had my one year mark here in the mission. It´s super weird. This was the fastest year of my life. Also, probably the hardest, but I´ve also learned a lot. But it´s weird to know that I only have 4 more transfers. I started to be old here in the Mission. But faz parte. But if you´re with saudades de mim, know that I´ll be home soon enough. If you guys haven’t studied the General Conference talks again, you should. There are a lot of really good and really important things there. Love you all! Até próxima semana!

Festa Junina!

Boa tarde, gente!!!

This week was good! We are still teaching Silvana, and it is going very well. Silvana went to church again this sunday, and we taught her about the Plan of Salvation and the Word of Wisdom. The very first day that we taught her, we had to explain a little that we don´t drink coffee, which led her to some confustion about what we can and can´t eat. (She though we couldn´t eat cake and only can eat beans one time a week) so we explained better. She loves coffee, but decided to try to stop drinking coffee. The next day, she told us that her husband made some coffee, and when she smelled it, she didn´t want to drink it at all!!!!! Silvana went to a Family Home Evening with us, which was super good. Vinicius, a recent convert, shared how he starting learning about the church and gained a testimony, and Silvana felt a connection. The Spirit was super strong. It was a testimony to me of how the Lord is preparing people to accept the Gospel. The hard part is to find them.

The ward had a tradicional Brazilian party on Friday, that we went to which was fun. Everybody dresses up like scarecrows and listens to tradicional music and eats caldo verde. muito gostoso!!! I helped make and serve churros. Super yummy também. No one that we invited was able to go, but it was still a good opportunity to serve the members.

My camera has been without batteries so I don´t have any pictures, but this week should have some.

Tchau tchau!

Oh Happy Day

Hello everybody!

Here is another photo from Josy and Enderson´s wedding!

And this week, Josy and Vitoria were baptized!!!!! WOOOOHOOOO!!!!!!

It was a mess to plan this baptism, but it all turned out, and it was a wonderful service. Everybody felt the Spirit, and my companheirinha chorou. Another rapaz was also baptized, Roberto. So included is a picture of him with his friends, Vinicius and Marcos who are recent converts, and the next baptism (maybe), Elmer ;)  It was super legal.

This week, we started teaching a friend of Josy's named Silvana. She is super exciting to read the Book of Mormon, and she went to church yesterday!!!!!! So we are very excited to teach her, and help her progress.

Other fun facts or interesting things:

1 according to a kid here, I look like a female Captain America

2 it´s winter here but I think it´s about the same temperature in Ohio

3 I finally got the Liahona of Conferencia Geral, and you all should put a little time into reading and studying it, because it is really the words of God´s prophet on the Earth. Good stuff.

Love you all!!!!!

Josy se Casou!!!

So this week was pretty awesome because Josy got married! Wooohooo! Josy is a lady that we´re teaching. She´s been going to church for about a year now, but finally is getting married, and she´ll be baptized later this week! woohoo. We didn´t get a picture with her, but with her 3 kids! They’re cuties. The older daughter, Vitoria, will be baptized with her mom, too! Also, we had a multizone conference and met our new mission president! Wooohooo! They’re awesome too. I´ll send a picture with them this next week I think. But I love you all. Keep working hard and being sempre fiéis!

Novo Presidente e Estrogonofe

A fancy estrogonofe. Gostoso!

Eating the fancy estrogonofe.

I ate lunch with a giant teddy bear.

Hi everybody! Here we are again. This week was pretty good for me and Sister Torres here in Cubatão! We have been having a bit of a difficult time finding people that really want to hear us in this area. But we were blessed to find some elect. We found a rapaz named Alex and we just taught him briefly about the Book of Mormon. When we returned 3 days later, he already read 15 chapters! Woohoo! But sadly, he couldn´t go to church because of his job. ( He said that if he didn´t finish his job for Monday, possibly all of Cubatão would explode. I don´t know if I believe that, but com certeza this next week he´ll go to church!) We also found a family that accepted to be baptized and another rapaz and his mom. So we´re exciting to teach these people.

This saturday, a lady we´re teaching, Josi, is going to get married, and the week after, she´s going to get baptized! Woohoo! So that´ll be lots of fun for us, and super happy for her.  In other news, we have a new mission president, Presidente Harmon. So that´s exciting. We´ll meet him on Wednesday in a conference, and maybe here soon there will be some changes in my mission. And it will be great. Boa semana, gente!

Com muito amor,
Sister Kellie
